Introducing Safe, Balanced & Degen Risk Presets for Pool Finder
StableSafe's Pool Finder now offers three one-click risk presets -- Safe, Balanced, and Degen -- so you can instantly find stablecoin yield pools matched to your risk tolerance without touching a single slider.
Not everyone wants to fiddle with sliders and numbers when searching for yield. That is why we built three simple risk presets that configure everything for you in a single click. Whether you are parking stablecoins in the safest vaults on the market or chasing higher returns in less-proven protocols, the Pool Finder now meets you where you are.
The problem: too many knobs
StableSafe tracks hundreds of stablecoin yield pools across 15+ chains and 100+ protocols. The Pool Finder already let you filter by risk score, TVL, APY range, allocation limits, and more. Power users love it. But new users told us the same thing:
"I just want safe yields. I do not know what a max allocation percent means."
Fair enough. Risk presets solve this by translating plain-language risk appetite into concrete filter values, so you get results instantly without needing to understand every parameter.
Three presets, three strategies
Click one button and the Pool Finder configures risk score limits, TVL floors, and allocation caps automatically. Here is what each preset targets:
- -Max risk score: 30
- -Min TVL: $10M
- -Max allocation: 20% per pool
Targets blue-chip protocols with deep liquidity and strong audit histories. Lower yields, but minimal smart contract risk.
- -Max risk score: 55
- -Min TVL: $5M
- -Max allocation: 15% per pool
Widens the net to include proven mid-tier protocols. Better yields with reasonable risk, and tighter allocation limits to stay diversified.
- -Max risk score: 100 (no cap)
- -Min TVL: $1M
- -Max allocation: 10% per pool
Opens up the full pool universe including newer and higher-risk protocols. Higher potential yields, but with correspondingly tighter per-pool allocation to limit exposure.
How the flow works
The Pool Finder uses a stepped interface. Selecting a risk preset is the first step, followed by entering your investment amount. Results appear immediately.
Returning users skip straight to results since your previous selection is remembered. Settings persist in localStorage for anonymous users and sync to your account if signed in.
Preset parameters at a glance
Each preset configures multiple parameters simultaneously. Here is the full comparison:
| Parameter | Safe | Balanced | Degen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Max Risk Score | 30 | 55 | 100 |
| Min TVL | $10M | $5M | $1M |
| Max Allocation % | 20% | 15% | 10% |
| Min APY | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| Max APY | 100% | 100% | 100% |
Notice that Degen uses the tightest allocation cap (10%). This is intentional: when you accept higher-risk pools, the allocator spreads your capital more thinly across a larger number of pools, reducing the impact of any single pool failure.
Risk vs. yield spectrum
The presets map to distinct zones on the risk-yield spectrum. Lower risk means fewer eligible pools but more battle-tested protocols. Higher risk opens up more opportunities at the cost of increased uncertainty.
Which preset should you pick?
Who: Capital preservers, institutions, newcomers to DeFi
When: You have significant stablecoin holdings and want predictable, low-risk yield from protocols like Aave, Compound, or Morpho on Ethereum mainnet.
Who: Experienced DeFi users comfortable with moderate risk
When: You understand smart contract risks and want to capture higher yields on proven protocols across multiple chains while still maintaining diversification.
Who: Risk-tolerant yield farmers, small allocations for experimentation
When: You are allocating a portion of your portfolio to higher-yield opportunities and accept that some protocols may carry significant risk. The tighter 10% cap limits your downside per pool.
Still want full control?
Presets are a starting point. After selecting one, click the Settings toggle to reveal the full parameter panel where you can adjust max risk score, TVL range, APY range, allocation limits, and advanced filters like chain selection, protocol filters, stablecoin preferences, and audit requirements.
Any manual change overrides the preset. The system detects whether your current settings still match a preset and highlights it accordingly. This means you can start with a preset and fine-tune from there.
